First stop: Kingston!

"Here's to O Canada!" we all said as we raised our glass. We had just finished putting up the set, and we were celebrating a long day. We happy to be reunited with the creator of our show, Roger and also welcoming a new member to our team: Mike, our roadie (or as Roger like to call him: The Technical engineer.)

After a long night of setup, this was a well deserved break. The restaurant was almost empty,(well it was a Sunday night at 11pm) but we were glad to have the peace and quiet. We had open our equipment for the first time; lights, speakers, screen (I still have the rubber smell stuck in my nose), projector. Needless to say we had been swimming in bubble wraps for a good part of the evening. We also had a big surprise when we opened up the screen; it was way bigger than we expected it to be. We stared at it, then stared at the ceiling, then back to the screen again. Yup, we were going to have to figure something out.

Luckily, we did! We were going to have to put it very low for it to fit on the stage. Still trying to figure out how the frame works, after bending the legs a few times, we managed to make it fit! Two hours after, everything was plugged it, ready to go and we started the run through. It was such a great feeling to get back into the costume and sing in the wireless mics again (can't help but to feel a little bit like Britney Spears everytime). For a second it almost felt like we were back in the hall in St-Vincent. The only thing missing were the boys. I really wish they were here together. We had build all the show together, and I guess it would take a bit to get accustomed to not having them around. Needless to say, The rehearsal went great! Me and Justine had been practicing a few times in Toronto and I could already see a big difference from our show in St-Paul. Were we tired? Yes, but nothing could wipe off the smile off my face. I was so happy!  We would have our first show in Ontario tomorrow!

Monday morning came quite quickly. It's still impresses me how well I get along with my touring partner! When me and Justine woke up, it's like we already had our morning ritual; while she was blow drying her hair and doing vocal warm ups I was listening to some sweet sweet dupstep. As different as we are, I think we complement each other very well.
We did the two workshops with Roger's help and the time to perform came quickly. Our first performance went quite well and the kids seemed to like it, especially the music. But I still felt we could do better the next day. We took the rest of the day and evening to recollect our energy and winded down in Mike's room as we all listening to Roger telling us stories about when he tours. I already felt like this is going to be the best 3 months of my life.

Tuesday morning! We are fresh and ready to restart the day, and I'm a 100% sure that the show is going to be better than yesterday. We are more confident and energized! As it turns out, I was right. The show rolls right along! The kids are loving it, clapping to the songs, laughing to the jokes and dancing their life away during the disco game show part. It was a delight!

Our first stop in Kingston was a blast! We've already improved a lot from that performance in the gym of St-Paul and I'm so very proud of us. I am also very grateful Roger was there to witness the change and help us make the show better.

As fun as it was, I must say the highlight of those two days were for sure to hear those kids cheering and the applause during the first song. It gave me shivers down my spine, just to realize how lucky I am to be doing this and how glad I am that the kids are enjoying the show!

To be continued in January...
