Muskoka, ca serait vraiment jolie...SI Y'AVAIT MOINS DE NEIGE

       Cette semaine nous avons eu la chance de passer dans la belle région de Muskoka, une très belle région touristique estivale de l'Ontario...malheureusement pour nous, c'était pas mal tranquille en hiver. Mais ce n'est pas grave, parce que avec Justine et moi, ce n'est jamais plate! On a déjà notre tradition du lundi soir; trouver la bouffe la plus grasse en ville et écouter "The Bachelor" dans notre chambre d'hotel. Cette semaine nous avons acheté un sceau de poulet au Kentucky Fried Chicken (qu'on est probablement encore entrain de digéré).

Avec les olympiques qui se passent en ce moment, c'est très excitant de faire un spectacle qui promouvoit la fierté canadienne! Nous étions à Hunstville, la ville native de la médaillé d'or, Dara Howell, le jour même ou elle a gagnée. Dans la ville on pouvait voir plusieurs pancartes affichés qui encourageaient la jeune athlète.

Nous avons aussi passé par Parry Sound, la ville native de...BOBBY ORR! Eh oui, qui l'eut cru? Mais c'était un peu difficile à ne pas savoir en arrivant là; plusieurs commerces portent son nom et il y avait même aussi le "Bobby Orr Hall of Fame"(qu'on a malheureusement pas eu le temps de visiter). On peut pas en dire moins que les gens dans la région de Muskoka sont très fier de leurs athlètes. Et c'est  aussi à Parry Sound que nous avons aussi pu manger notre premier repas "non fast-food" (je sais je parle encore de bouffe...) et c'était un des meilleurs moment de la semaine. Des patates pilés ça te remonte le moral en titi!

      Pour ce qui est de l'expérience du spectacle, je crois vraiment qu'on réussi à créer un impact dans certaines écoles. Il y a des jeunes qui viennent nous voir parfois après les spectacles avec les yeux qui brillent et qui nous remercient d'être passé à leur école. Il y en a même qui ont demandé à Justine : "Is it hard to learn French?" Ce sont mes moments favoris de la semaine, parce que c'est là qu'on se dit que notre spectacle fait une différence. Oui c'est génial de pouvoir être sur scène à tout les jours, mais d'avoir un impact positif sur les jeunes c'est encore plus extraordinaire. On ne fait pas de miracle, mais je crois que peu à peu on réussi à leur ouvrir un peu plus l'esprit au bilinguisme et à son importance. Je suis fières de nos jeunes ontariens!

5 choses que nous avons appris cette semaine:
1. KFC semble toujours une bonne idée AVANT d'en manger. On peut pas en dire autant après.
2. Je parle rapidement quand je parle en français, même quand je pense que je parle lentement.
3. Le sport olympique des sauts en ski de distance font littéralement peur à Justine. (Je vous jure, elle crie à chaque fois. Pour vous rapporter ses mots exacte : "HOW IS THIS A SPORT?! THIS IS SO SCARY!!!")
4. Si les jeunes ne disent rien quand tu leurs demande :"Est ce que vous avez compris?" c'est probablement qu'ils n'ont pas compris.
5. J'utilise beaucoup trop le mot "quainte" (champêtre) pour décrire les villes et les hotels.
("AWWWHH look at this room! This place is quaint!" "Would you know a quaint little restaurant?")

Et ce soir c'est "The Bachelor" à Cornwall. J'ai bien hâte de voir ce qu'on va trouver de dégeulasse à manger!

Northern Ontario, you warmed our hearts!

Nothing but positive feedback to give about our last week in Northern Ontario! Sudbury, North Bay and Sault Ste-Marie were gems! We were all very surprised by the level of French of these schools, they rocked it! It's heart warming to see all of these kids learning French and I hope that our show makes them proud to be able to speak two languages. Northern Ontario has an amazing French community! So beautiful and impressive to see!

This past week was a great experience! Although we probably spent more time traveling than anything else and that by the time we got back to Toronto, we wanted to cry at the thought of eating fast food (eating out in restaurants gets old...very fast!), we've had a blast! Trying to find the Big Nickel in Sudbury was surprisingly hard, but it was definitely worth it. LOOK AT THE SIZE OF THAT CURRENCY!

We've had a great time meeting the students in the workshop, and I must say this week we've had very diverse groups, but almost every time during the workshop me and Justine would look at each other for a moment to share how impressed we were with these kids. We've encountered phenomenal dancers (especially at Chippewa ISS in North Bay-WOW!) and we were surprised by how much the kids knew the answers during the game show.

Thursday was a big day! Not only was it Justine's birthday, but we also had two shows in Sault Ste-Marie. Our first show went marvelously! Can't say the same for the second one, as we had technical problems one after the other. We almost had to do the show without the projection (which would take a lot away from the show because the show is very visual). But luckily we figured it out and the show went on normally! Oufffff! Things are always interesting to say the least! 

I must say, I really felt the "life on the road" sha-bang this week. Trying to keep a normal routine and eat healthy (Ok I have been talking a lot about the food, but it's really affecting us!!). We've even decided to use the hotel fitness center (oh yeah!) but imagine our disappointment when we got to the Sault and it was closed for renovation. Luckily the hotel front desk lady said she had our back, and that if anyone asked, she recalls "seeing" us on the treadmills. Thanks lady, but it's not making up for the five burgers I've eaten this week. 

5 things we've learned this week:

1- Tim Horton is literally EVERYWHERE.

2-The Franco-Ontarian flag was invented in Sudbury!!! Who knew??

3- I look like a High School Student. 

4- There is such a thing as too much fast food (Tim Horton is an exception)

5- Snapchat CAN keep you very entertained for long drives, and Justine is Queen at it. 

Tonight we are leaving for Lindsay for our 14th show tomorrow! So excited to meet the students and keep the tour rollin'! Till then, have a good one Ontario! Heads up for Bracebridge, Burks Falls and Parry Sound!
